According to lore, Panjurli and Guliga fought over the same land and even engaged in a battle over it, but eventually entered into a truce after goddess Durga intervened.

In a cinematic climax of one-of-a-kind, Shiva destroys the landlord and his goons. After restoring the village peace, Shiva now a vessel of the deity goes back to the forest – disappearing into a circle of fire. All in all, Kantara's ending is a mix of justice, sacrifice, and embracing destiny.

This is a prequel to the Pan-Indian hit Kannada film Kantara (2022). Rishab, both the director and lead actor, unveiled the sequel on March 18 at a Prime Video event in Mumbai. The film will have an OTT release on Prime Video post its theatrical run.

In fact, Kantara shows two related deities — Panjurli and Guliga. The former is depicted akin to the Varaha Avatara of Vishnu (the sustainer) and the latter as Mahadeva (the destroyer).
