Define convenience. Depends where you are headed. For midtown, JFK is cheaper because you can take the AirTrain to Jamaica and then hop LIRR to Grand Central for about $15 and 45 minutes. Avoids the annoyance of trying to locate your driver. I suppose if Wall Street or Upper East Side is your destination, its a toss up for time but with the caveat that LGA costs materially more (Lyft, etc).

20+ years ago, airlines had an implicit dress code (esp. for first class). I think airline employees did as well, but due to collective bargaining or society in general, that diminished.
Working in management at Northwest was one of the few corporate jobs in America where youd put a tie on when leaving the office and walking to your car. And we certainly stood out on flights to Hawaii 😉

The free alcohol and co*cktails in Polaris were better, but as someone who has given up alcohol, this just doesnt matter to me anymore.
Comparing this experience The Wing circa 2012, or the NRT JL/NH lounges, or the Concorde Club, I just cant imagine going out of my way for a Polaris club.
All this to say, Im sure the JFK D1 club is nice. From the pictures, Id certainly be happy to spend a couple of hours. But I cant imagine selecting flights based on this one feature.
I'm very much in the minority, but for me, I value a quiet space as much (or perhaps even more so) than many of the other amenities. I also don't drink so the alcohol selection doesn't matter. As an example, if I have a domestic connection in ATL and I make the trek over to E or F, it's not because of the Skydeck or the "chef's table", but because I know from late morning to mid afternoon it will be as quiet as it gets. Truth be told that is about my limit for going out of my way (and depends on time and a bunch of other factors).
Insofar as Polaris being on par with the nicer Sky Clubs (and the D1 lounges being a step above those), that appears to be very much in line with DL's strategy. They just need to get the crowding sorted out IMHO...until then this notion of "premium" is a bit comical.

Its a good question and Id say it depends on the flight time. I live in downtown Manhattan and travel out of New York airports 1-2 times per week. A lot of that is transcon and some international so of course my only option is JFK for those routes. But for the very short flights to DCA, BOS, YYZ, etc Ill pick LaGuardia over JFK for convenience. The flights where Id pick JFK over LGA because of the Delta One Lounge are the slightly longer flights to Dallas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Denver, Nassau, New Orleans, etc.

Not sure of their branding intentions but the same D1 logo was prominently featured in the parting gift from Tuesdays opening reception:

Went through the lounge yesterday early evening; during the peak time of about 530pm or 6pm, it was at about 90% capacity. This was the Friday before July 4th which usually coincides with some of the busiest international travel activity. I expect that it wont be that crowded at other peak times such as Thanksgiving and Christmas given the reduction in the TATL schedules at those times. Maybe some other periods in March (spring break) and end of May (Memorial day) when TATL travel ramps up again
By 730-8pm, it was definitely quieter:
The Market open-dining area
SkyDeck at 8pm
Restaurant near the open-kitchen area; restaurant was not overly packed even during the 530pm-6pm period.
Also tried the showers (beautifully-appointed suites) and the express shoeshine (while I showered). There wasnt a wait for the shower at around 6pm

Gates-level entrance
This is on the gates/shops level and more convenient entryway for connecting pax. Also a lot less traffic.
Walkway from entrance to the elevators with tarmac views on one side

My parents are departing TATL from JFK this evening, 6/29/24, reporting there is line to enter the Delta One lounge around 5:30pm. Didnt Claude Roussel, vice president of Delta Sky Clubs and lounge experience, this past week in a published interview declare No lines, no lines, no lines in our Concourse B Sky Club anymore. An other Delta executive fallacy statement, Fool me once, shame on you. I knew once I read Claudes statement earlier this week it was nothing more than a marketing hot air misleading statementDelta has a big credibility problem, as they might as well print future statements on scotts toilet paper.

It was crowded when I was there on Wednesday, so I can definitely see there being the potential for a line. Did they say how fast the line was moving? A naive part of me wants to hope the line was confused people trying to access the lounge thinking its just a Sky Club that is close to security.

Also important to know: length of line and wait time to enter. I’ve had to wait to enter other business class lounges before, eg VS at LHR, AF at CDG, and United Polaris at ORD. Mostly the waits were not too bad.

They didnt want to waste time so they went to the Centurion Lounge. Amazing how people cant read between Delta One and Sky Clubbut its New York JFK, so a whole bunch of DYKWIAs flying main cabin who think they can enter the Delta One lounge with the Reserve Card? If this is true, then I blame Delta for the non stop lounge marketing for Reserve card cobranded sign ups.

Maybe the Delta One lounge should have had a speak easy entry like Classified at EWR? Fast Eddie and cohorts couldnt have a brag worthy lounge entry then.

I arrived tonight at about 6:30. There was no line to get in. The place is very nice -- far nicer than the B lounge where I usually take roost. But I found it uncomfortably crowded and loud. I like to relax before a flight, and there was no relaxation to be had in the Delta One lounge, at least not tonight. Not surprising to read that there had been a line to get in earlier.
Perhaps on a non-Saturday night, not during peak European travel season, not just beforepeak European take off time it will be better, but tonight I just found it to be an unpleasant experience
I left after walking a lap around the place just to take a look.
Walked over to the B32 lounge, and there was a short line to get in there. Nothing like the Saturday night lines in the past -- but still a bit surprising to have so many people shifted to the Delta One lounge and still have a line at B32
